Eureka!

I finally found the elusive nail polish Lady Gaga used!

Introducing the incredible, the wonderful, and the very expensive, Minx Nail Coverings!

Minx nail coverings are nail "films" that are applied with heat (so only a professional can do this!) There are no chemicals used so your nails will be safe from any harm! It comes in my favorite, metallic colors (gold and silver) and other prints like animal, paisley, stripes, and other textures. Although I don't suggest you go there as it could look very tacky. Let's just stick to the metallics okay? It's more classy and chic.

Vogue magazine has recently dubbed Minx nails as the "Manicure of the moment" with fans such as Lady Gaga, Beyonce, Blake, Jordin Sparks, and Lauren Domingo. This is definitely du jour!

Minx nails are only done by professional salons. Only registered salons can purchase a kit and only one trial kit is provided to first time salons. Minx tries to keep the quality of their product so they make sure the salons who provide this service has their approval.

Rumor is, a manicure using Minx costs $50-$80 which is approximately 2500=4000php! Wow! The sad thing about it is that it doesn't last that long. Definitely not for everyday use, just maybe for some event or a party. Bummer.

I'm really happy I finally found what product Lady Gaga used but somehow finding it also makes me sad especially now that I realize it's impossible for me to get them @_@ Still, no one can stop me from pinning over those glorious shiny shades!

Have you tried this? Swiss Miss Fat Free Marshmallow Lovers

Roasting marshmallows on an open fire may be too American a tradition for us but surely we've all been able to smell perfume with the scent of toasted marshmallows in it, right? I don't know about you but one thing I love to do with marshmallows is to put it in hot cocoa. But sometimes, it's just too much of a hassle to buy miniature marshmallows for the hot chocolate. One product that made this hot-cocoa-with-mallows-treat easy for me was the Swiss Miss Marshmallow Hot Cocoa.  I just had one problem with the regular Swiss Miss with Marshmallows, the hotness of the chocolate, melts the mallows quickly. Then I saw the Swiss Miss Marshmallow Lovers Hot Cocoa. I loved it! The hot water for the cocoa melts a few of the mallows but a handful still remains on top of my drink for me to enjoy.

But my mom kept on teasing me that marshmallows are too fattening. I couldn't let that thought pass so I researched if it really is fattening. I found out that mallows are actually fat free, however the sugar it contains can be stored as fat if you're consuming too much calories.) So when she saw this in the grocery, she immediately bought it and bragged it to me! Haha.

SWISS MISS FAT FREE MARSHMALLOW LOVERS HOT COCOA.
Perfection.

Now the only thing I'd have to worry about is putting the right amount of water. :)

MYOH `09 Update

Every year, Havaianaticos go ga-ga over this event. Actually, I haven't been to any of the previous Make Your Own Havaianas events and sadly I still wasn't able to go to this year's event. But, lucky for us, my lovely cousin went there for me and made us (my sisters, my mom, and I) several pairs. I just wanted to share the really cool pins she got for our Havs. These are the Pinoy pins I was talking about. Sorry for the blurriness of some of the pins, I tried my best to take pictures of it. Hehe. Anyway, here goes..

LVM (hihi.)
Luzon Visayas Mindanao

Mamang Sorbetero, ano'ng ngalan mo? Tinda mong ice cream gustong-gusto ko!

I can hear Bamboo singing proudly ;)

Beep beep beep beep!

Ain't it cute how Havs found a way for Noypis to profess their undying love for the Philippines even if it's no longer June 12?

Topshop Private Sale

Last Wednesday I got a text from "RSSI" telling me that I am invited to the Topshop/TopMan/Dorothy Perkins Sale on July 3, 12pm to 6pm which will be held in three different venues (but I only remember Shangri-la). How silly of me to think that it would just be the regular sale Topshop holds..it was one of those Private Sales! The one where they put huge black curtains up on their windows to keep the event really private and a saleslady stands by the door (sometimes with a guard) holding a guest list!!

I was really bummed out when I got a text from my sister telling me that it looked so nice. I felt much more bummed out when I remembered that the text said that old stuff will be 50% off while new products will have 10% off, especially since I've been eyeing an old product, a jersey boyfriend blazer, on the Topshop site! (I don't see it in our stores anymore but they still have it online.)

I'm wishing that I'd still get invited the next time Topshop holds another private sale. Really, how silly of me to overlook the part about the RSSI being the only one giving out invites. It didn't occur to me that it was a private sale because I usually get texts from other stores about their sales and new product arrivals too. (Yes, I'm fond of filling up their 'valued customer' forms or guest books. Hehe.)

So PK girls, let this be a warning to all of you. Next time, read the invites well! Hehe.

Spend Spend Spend

My sister was telling my mom a few days ago that President GMA said in a speech that we should all "SPEND SPEND SPEND" (while imitating GMA's infamous look when she talks..hehe.) So I went shopping. Online window shopping, that is. Here are some beautiful stuff I chanced upon.. *Sigh* If I were an ultra rich girl.. Haha!

And so my fixation with booties continue. If only wearing boots in Pinas wasn't such a hassle..

Since the trend shades right now are of the neutral palette, think khakis and creams, one must let her bag do the talking!

Still on the said 'neutral' trend, you can also add a pop of color through your shoes. Black sandals with ingenious designs such as mesh and animal skin (faux, we hope) will surely add zest to your ensemble.

Okay, time to get back to reality.. :)

Real Gossip Girl?

Ugh. I can't believe they really did it.

Rumors were circulating about a reality show that was the "real" Gossip Girl life. I didn't think it would push through with all the negative feedback it has been getting but apparently, NY Prep makes its debut in the States this week! Ugh!

It's still in its experimental stage being dubbed as a "docuseries" but I think they'll turn it into a full reality show in the months to come. Gosh.

Anyway, let me introduce you to the interesting(?) characters of the show:

Peter "PC" Peterson, 18
PC could be watching a lot of GG because he fits Chuck Bass' jerky character to a tee! It's no surprise when he revealed that he dreams to be an actor. Well, this heir could very well do what we wants as he gets a lot of green from his billionaire grandfather.

Jessie Leavitt, 17
Jessie is a snobby fashionista who boasts that, "I've had a personal sales associate at Barneys since I was 13." (air headed much?) She also brags that her mom has never worked a day in her life. Jessie shares a little bit of Blair with her preference for bad boys, which in this case is, PC. But if you ask PC, he thinks Jessie is the prep school bitch (yah right! but these two apparently had a past together).

Kelli Tomashoff, 17
Kelli is an aspiring singer and she and her mom thinks the show is the perfect avenue to showcase her talent. We'll see a little bit of Serena Van der Woodsen in her as she lives with her older brother in an upper east side apartment without supervision. Her parents live in the Hamptons, dropping in once a week for dinner. She claims that "we don't do homework", "we don't work". (Oh yeah, co'z your too posh for that *rolls eyes*)

Sebastian Oppenheim, 16
The show's very own Nate Archibald, Sebastian has a way with the ladies (oh really?). He is the son of movie producer dad and a french mom. He looks like a model and uses his french to impress the ladies. He doesn't go to NYC like the other preppies, he attends a private school in East Hampton. He says that his current goal is to have sex with as many girls as possible. "Why date one girl when you can hook up with a bunch?" (ugh!)

Taylor DiGiovanni, 15
The show's Jenny Humphrey, Taylor is not as rich as her East Side counterparts. She doesn't even go to the same school! Taylor is a public school girl that producers decided to add to the mix. I mean hey, the rich and poor don't mix well but they do make good television!

HERE'S MY FAVORITE! (yeah right) *drumroll*

Camille Hughes, 16
Camille has her future perfectly planned out like our favorite, Queen Blair. She's an overachiever with a solid plan for her future which includes going to Harvard, marrying rich and having kids. Hmmm... something about this girl ain't right. I think it's the headband. It's too Blair! She might deny it but I think she watches too much Gossip Girl.

I wonder if this show will rate well in the States. I know, it's ridiculous but then who knows? We all thought Paris Hilton's My New BFF was ridiculous too but then everyone started to get hooked on the show. Ha, the irony :P

I guess it's too early to judge. Who knows, if NY Prep finds its way to Manila, I *might* even become a big fan (nyay).

One thing I'm totally not digging are their overall looks. They might be rich but they are so far from our favorite GG guys and girls.

Get Miley's flawless skin!

I know I'm not alone in wondering what celebrities do to make their skin look amazing. I, for one is greatly amazed with how good their skin is co'z I know how hard it is to achieve that! Having oily skin is the worst. I grew up with pimples, white heads, excessive oiliness, you name it! I've only been seeing improvements in my skin now co'z I turned vegetarian and you know how eating healthy is really good for your skin. But somehow, I am not yet satisfied! I admit, I am a beauty product junkie. I have eye creams, moisturisers, clay masks, scrubs, firming gels, the works! Sadly though, I still haven't found that perfect product to make my skin look like a baby's!

Well, a very informative tweet from Miley Cyrus herself has got me on the lookout for Kanebo Sensai products. Miley uses Step 1 and 2 from the line. Miley claims that it made her skin so much better and turned her oily, pimple prone face into the smooth canvass it is today! (it's true, you should see old pictures of Miley, she had horrible skin!)

My godmother uses Kanebo makeup and she swears it's the best. Well, she doesn't have to convince, I know that especially with the price she's paying.

The sensai products lowest price is at 3750php! So how much does one big bottle cost? 10,000php? Nyay. Celebrity price for celebrity skin. *sigh*

Kevin Jonas is engaged!

Apparently, the eldest Jonas decided to put a ring on it when he proposed to his long-time girlfriend Danielle Deleasa. Kevin popped the question on Danielle's doorstep this morning after flying in from a gig in Vancouver.

Kevin handed Danielle a cushion-cut diamond ring designed by him and Jacob and Co.

He finally traded in his purity ring for a wedding ring! Wow :) So one Jonas down, two more to go!

Congratulations Kevin! Although I know a lot of girls in the world was probably devastated by this news. Danielle, you're one lucky girl!

Going neon

I am a big fan of nail polish. Have been since I was young. I like collecting them in all these great colors that it thrilled me to see more and more funky colors being released! Well last year, we saw a couple of highlighter shades which was just crazy wonderful! It's like it's so ugly and so weird that it's beautiful! The 'in-your-face' colors totally became du jour!

I have been collecting these shades since I got my first bottle of neon green nail polish in Bangkok. I also got a canary yellow and thick baby blue shade but somehow they fall short in some way. Don't know what exactly but they do. Hehe :P

While we were grocery shopping, I dropped by the nail polish section to check out if there's anything worth buying. Growing up, I often find myself buying from the grocery because it's so much easier plus I like buying in bulk which you can do since they cost really cheap. hehe :)

Here's what I found:
The picture does not do them much justice but I tell you, they are N-E-O-N! It was a no-brainer, I had to get them!
I tried the neon pink first because Barbie is in right now and I tell you, this IS Barbie! The color is so fun and even if it was neon, it doesn't look ridiculous at all! Also, it was very easy to apply.
The Orange was very disappointing. It was very "watery" that it took four thick coats just to get it to that shade whereas the pink one only need one to two coats. The color though is good as it was bright but not too bright. It's sunny and fun but not post-it like crazy.

Verdict: I wish it came in more funky colors!
Wallet Damage: 25php (?)

I'm now on the lookout for silver nail polish like Gaga's. I've heard of Chanel's, Dior Vernis and Opi's but from what I've seen, they don't have the same shine and "silverness" like that of Lady Gaga's. Hmm... I wonder what she used?

If you ever come across this kind of silver shade, give me a heads up okay? I'll love you forever for it!
